Where the Journey Begins

The journey for Perfectly You Events began when Karen and Mandy met at a wedding networking event. After working together on a number of wedding and events with their respective businesses Karen and Mandy made the decision to establish Perfectly You Events to enable them to offer the full range of event planning and design services.

Karen & Mandy - Where the journey begins ...After  a successful 22 year career in the Independent Financial Services Sector as an Office Manager and industry systems trainer Mandy felt it was time to change direction and put her passion for the arts and creative design to work after studying Fine Arts at Darlington College.

The combination of running an office, people and diary management, timescales for work projects and Mandy’s creative side are ideal skills for moving into the Wedding and Event Organising Industry.  This decision came from helping her Brother and Sister-In-Law to be, plan their big day.  Mandy realised a potential gap in the market when looking for ideas for their wedding favours as they wanted something that was personal to them and bringing their two cultures together.

Mandy’s passion for organising events also shows when she successfully raised a large amount of funds for Shelter (the homeless charity). This gave her the amazing opportunity to walk The Great Wall of China following 6 months of intense training and organising fundraiser events including spending every Sunday morning car booting!

Leaving behind a senior management role in the public sector and a successful 28 year career in the NHS Karen retrained as a wedding planner in 2011. With professional qualifications in management including a Masters in Public Administration Karen has extensive skills in organisational strategy, project management and leadership which she has used to establish and build a business with the core values of professionalism, trust and excellent customer service.

The key to delivery of any successful event is effective project management, the ability to meet deadlines and good financial planning, skills that Karen has developed over a long career in management and now uses to ensure that any special occasion is planned perfectly.

On a personal note Karen lives with her partner Mark and has two (almost!) grown-up children. Her daughter Louise is the ‘bride’ you will see featured in some of the images on this website. Her interests include hill walking and karate in which she has a black belt.
